This Is Us focuses on people whose fashion, hairstyles, piercings, or styling choices often invite instant judgment. The series does not approach those markers as spectacle, but as evidence of individuality, self-fashioning, and social vulnerability.
The process is grounded in reference gathering shaped by fashion and music culture, followed by drawing, painting, and the careful addition of yarn or crochet thread into garments, braids, and key areas of emphasis.
Within the series, appearance becomes a site of empathy. The paintings ask what happens when visual difference is met with care rather than assumption.
